A client of ours, specialised within the Financial Services industry, is looking to onboard a Financial Controller to join their team.
Duties:
Prepare management accounts, financial reports, cash flow forecasts, budgets, variance analysis and other financial information as required
Oversee the day-to-day internal finance operations of the Group and its entities
Ensure the proper maintenance of accounting records, reconciliations, invoicing, payments and month-end procedures
Monitor cash flow, costs, budgets and overall financial performance across the Group
Coordinate and assist with the preparation of year-end financial statements and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, banks and other relevant parties
Ensure the timely preparation and submission of VAT returns, tax information and other statutory obligations applicable to the Group
Support the implementation of finance systems, automation initiatives and process improvements
Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of finance policies, procedures and internal controls
Liaise with internal teams to ensure that billing, disbursements, supplier invoices, payments and other finance-related matters are handled efficiently and accurately
Assist management with profitability analysis, financial planning and strategic decision-making
Support and guide junior or administrative team members involved in finance- related processes
Requirements
A minimum of 5 years’ of local experience in a senior finance-related role, preferably within financial services
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, VAT, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls
Experience with accounting software and financial reporting tools. Knowledge of Xero will be considered an asset
Experience in preparing management accounts, cash flow forecasts and financial reports
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and in Maltese
Education and Experience
Must be fully ACCA qualified, in possession of a finance degree, or equivalent professional qualification
