Role Overview

The Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department and ensuring that financial transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures and internal controls.

The role can encompass a broad range of finance tasks across the general accounting function. The Finance Officer will work closely with colleagues across the Group to ensure the timely and accurate execution of financial processes while maintaining high standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Officers may be assigned responsibilities from one or more of the finance processes listed below, depending on business requirements, departmental structure, experience, and individual development plans. 

The responsibilities outlined below are intended to provide an overview of the tasks that may be undertaken within the role and do not represent an exhaustive or mandatory list for every Finance Officer.

  • Process financial transactions accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Assist in maintaining complete and accurate accounting records 
  • Review, verify and post financial documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support the preparation and processing of journals, accruals, prepayments and adjustments.
  • Prepare banking transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in the execution and monitoring of payments and transfers.
  • Support the preparation of cash flow information and reconciliations.
  • Assist in maintaining proper controls over cash and banking activities.
  • Perform bank, supplier, customer, intercompany and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Ensure that financial records are supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Follow and uphold internal control procedures.
  • Contribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts and other financial analyses.
  • Support audit processes and requests for information.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable financial regulations.
  • Participate in business and finance projects and system improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve financial matters.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management and commensurate with the role.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional, ethical and confidential approach to work.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing business requirements.
