Client Accountant

A family-run CSP is seeking an experienced and pro-active Senior Client Accountant to manage a portfolio of Maltese clients. This is a hands-on role requiring ownership of the full accounting process, from bookkeeping and transaction posting through to financial reporting, tax compliance, and client relationship management.

Responsibilities:

• Independently manage and take ownership of a portfolio of Maltese clients
• Handle the full accounting cycle, from transaction processing and reconciliations to management accounts and financial statements
• Prepare VAT returns, tax returns, and statutory filings while ensuring compliance with Maltese regulations
• Monitor financial performance and provide clients with financial reporting, analysis, and practical business support
• Act as the main point of contact for clients, auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and audit processes
• Attend occasional client meetings and site visits when required

Please note that this is an urgent vacancy with a short hiring timeline. As a result, we are currently seeking candidates already based in Malta who have the legal right to work without requiring a new work permit or a work permit transfer.

Requirements

• Mature, autonomous, and capable of managing client relationships independently
• Strong knowledge of Maltese accounting, VAT, and tax requirements
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software
• Valid driving licence preferred

Education and Experience

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, ACA, Accountancy degree, or equivalent)
• 3-5 years' accounting experience, ideally within a CSP, accounting practice, or client accounting environment
