Role Overview

Our Client is seeking to recruit a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join its finance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to further develop their experience within a dynamic and growing organisation. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting requirements, improving finance processes, and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations. Working closely with senior management, the chosen candidate will contribute to the efficient day-to-day operation of the finance function while supporting continuous improvements across financial processes and controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Finance Operations: Oversee the day-to-day finance activities, ensuring accounting records are accurate, complete, and maintained in line with company policies.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts and assist with the preparation of financial statements and other management reports.
  • Cash Flow Monitoring: Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance, highlighting any issues to management.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.
  • Internal Controls: Assist in maintaining effective financial controls and recommend improvements where appropriate.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and contribute to greater efficiency within the department.
  • Systems Support: Assist with the effective use of financial systems and support system improvements where required.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies.
  • Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors and assist in the preparation of information required during annual audits.
  • Tax & Statutory Returns: Prepare VAT returns and support the completion of other statutory and regulatory filings.
  • Financial Analysis: Prepare financial analysis and reports to support operational and management decision-making.
  • Business Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across different departments to provide financial support and improve reporting.
  • Reporting: Assist in developing financial reports and performance indicators to support business objectives.
  • Team Support: Provide guidance and day-to-day support to junior finance team members where required.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
  • Education: Fully qualified ACCA warranted Accountant.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years' experience in an Accountant position, preferably within the FMCG or a catering commercial environment.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is essential. Knowledge of Maltese would be considered an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Able to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to colleagues across the business.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong team player with the ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
  • Technical Skills: Good knowledge of financial reporting, accounting systems, Microsoft Excel, and management accounting principles.
  • Organisation: Well organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Self-Motivated: Proactive, reliable, and willing to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Problem-Solving: Good analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions.
