Role Overview
Our Client, in collaboration with Heroix, is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to provide hands-on technical assistance across core banking systems, infrastructure, and desktop environments. The role focuses on ensuring the smooth running of IT operations, supporting end users, and contributing to ongoing technical improvements within a dynamic financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core System Operations: Oversee daily operations of core business systems, including evening and weekend end-of-day processes.
  • IT Support: Deliver timely technical support for desktop and laptop environments while contributing to process enhancements across helpdesk functions.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Maintain hardware, operating systems, and business applications to ensure consistent and efficient performance.
  • Telephony Administration: Assist with the administration and upkeep of the PABX system.
  • Data Centre Support: Provide support within the Company’s Data Centres, ensuring adherence to security and maintenance requirements.
  • Network and System Administration: Support user account management, access rights, and general network and system operations.
  • Remote Site Assistance: Offer on-site technical support across the Company’s various remote locations.
  • Backups & Recovery: Conduct routine backups, restorations, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Systems Monitoring: Perform regular checks on hardware, software, and networks, maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate with colleagues by sharing solutions, technical insights, and best practices.
  • Data Support: Assist with data-related requests and contribute to data management improvements.
  • User Training: Educate end users on effective use of hardware and software tools to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Team Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with team members, contributing to a supportive and cohesive work environment.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

  • Education: A Degree in an ICT-related field.
  • Experience: Experience in an IT support role is considered an asset, particularly within a technical or operational environment.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and confidently, supported by strong listening skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with internal customers and team members.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of SQL, Microsoft Server Reporting Services, T-SQL, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Microsoft 365.
  • Organisation: Strong organisational abilities with the capacity to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Self-Motivated: A proactive individual who is eager to learn and adapt to new banking technologies and processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Logical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
