IT Infrastructure Engineer

A leader in the retail industry is looking to employ an IT Infrastructure Engineer. 

Reporting to the Technical Lead, the IT Infrastructure Engineer is a key player in maintaining and optimization our hybrid (on-prem/cloud) server infrastructure. In this role, you will ensure high availability through regular tuning and updates, while actively designing and executing migrations to build a more resilient, future-state environment.

Responsibilities:

Cloud Architecture & Strategy

• Design & Deploy: Lead the end-to-end implementation of multi-cloud solutions (AWS, Azure) 
• Vision & Automation: Advance the cloud strategy by developing automation tools

Core Operations & Infrastructure

• System Optimization: Perform ongoing resource tuning, hardware upgrades (CPU, memory, disk partitioning), and maintain data center monitoring equipment.
• Enterprise Management: Own and manage Identity Management, Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery, and the Document Management Strategy.

Incident & Project Leadership

• Project Delivery: Act as project lead for major business initiatives, including new office, store, and warehouse openings.
• Availability & Resolution: Troubleshoot business-impacting issues based on urgency

Governance

• Compliance: Adhere to firm Change and Problem Management policies within an ITIL or formalized IT operations framework.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years working with cloud platforms
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft and Linux based systems including Hardware, software, networking and storage
• Experience with Microsoft Azure AD DS and Virtualisations such as Proxmox, HyperV and Vmware
• Experience architecting cloud infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure and AWS
• Technical knowledge of infrastructure components such as Network, Storage, Linux/Windows, Application knowledge of Java, .Net, and IT security
• Experience with DevOps procedures and an Agile environment

Education and Experience

• Degree level qualifications in a Technology related subject
• Cisco CCNP Enterprise is required
• Linux CompTIA LX0-104 or LPIC-1 or better
• Microsoft MCSA Core Infrastructure
• Any Public cloud certifications, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services (AWS), will be considered as an asset
• Proxmox & Vmware Certifications will be an asset
