Mechanical Cost Estimator

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join a well established. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for HVAC, ventilation, heat pump, and mechanical systems projects.

This role combines technical engineering expertise with commercial awareness to support tendering, sales, and project planning activities while ensuring technically compliant and profitable solutions.

What You'll be Doing

• Review client enquiries, specifications, and tender documents to assess project requirements
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC, air conditioning, ventilation, and heat pump systems
• Perform quantity take-offs (BOQs) from technical drawings and specifications
• Analyse material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Participate in tendering processes, including pricing strategies and bid preparation
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
• Support design teams with cost-effective system selections and value engineering solutions
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals aligned with client requirements
• Evaluate project risks, cost uncertainties, and commercial conditions
• Assist sales teams with pricing strategies and technical support during client negotiations
• Attend client meetings when required to clarify technical and commercial matters
• Ensure all estimates comply with technical standards, regulations, and company procedures
• Maintain accurate cost databases, pricing structures, and historical records
  

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in HVAC, ventilation, heat pumps, estimation, or tendering is considered an asset
• Basic understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical services
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
• Good analytical and numerical skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or estimation software is an advantage
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proactive and solution-oriented attitude
