Food Operations Manager

A well-established organisation within the food manufacturing and distribution sector is seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to oversee and optimise its production, storekeeping, dispatch, and logistics operations.

This is a key leadership role for a hands-on professional who thrives in fast-paced operational environments and is passionate about efficiency, quality, food safety, and team leadership.

What You'll Be Doing

Operational Leadership

• Monitor daily operational performance and report production KPIs to senior management
• Implement operational standards and contribute to strategic planning initiatives
• Lead, motivate, and organise teams to achieve productivity and operational targets
• Monitor employee performance, identify training needs, and support staff development
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, hygiene, and food safety standards
• Promote a strong Food Safety Culture throughout the organisation

Production Management

• Oversee production planning and scheduling to ensure timely delivery of products
• Ensure production processes remain efficient and cost-effective by reducing wastage
• Monitor product quality and facility standards
• Coordinate resources, staffing, and materials required for daily operations
• Liaise effectively with internal departments to ensure operational continuity
• Support the implementation of company policies and operational goals

Store & Inventory Management

• Oversee store operations including receiving, issuing, and storage of raw materials
• Ensure FIFO and FEFO systems are consistently maintained
• Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and inventory accuracy
• Ensure proper warehouse organisation, pallet arrangement, and contamination prevention
• Verify and maintain accurate inventory, receiving, issuing, and waste disposal records
• Ensure adequate safety stock levels are maintained

Dispatch & Logistics

• Ensure products are prepared and dispatched on time according to customer requirements
• Ensure logistics and transportation operations comply with health & safety standards
• Support improvements to logistics systems and operational procedures
• Assist in risk management planning to ensure continuity of supply
  

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar operational management role within food manufacturing
• Strong track record of improving operational performance and achieving targets
• Solid understanding of Food Safety and Quality Management Systems
• Strong analytical, organisational, leadership and decision-making skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
