Apcopay Limited is seeking to recruit a Software Developer to join its growing Development Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious professional to contribute to the development of high-performance, secure, and scalable payment solutions within a dynamic and fast-paced fintech environment.

 

THE POSITION

Based in Malta and reporting to the Head of Software Development, the Software Developer will play an important role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and high-performing software solutions that support Apcopay's global payments platform.

 

Working closely with the wider Development Team and cross-functional stakeholders across the business, the successful candidate will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and efficient systems that meet the performance standards expected of a leading payments orchestration platform.

 

The Software Developer will contribute to the continuous evolution of Apcopay's technology stack, applying modern software engineering practices and development methodologies across all layers of the platform. This includes supporting the design and optimisation of database structures, developing and maintaining integrations with external payment gateways and service providers, enhancing existing applications, and contributing to the delivery of new platform capabilities.

 

The role also involves participating in code reviews, supporting testing and quality assurance activities, troubleshooting technical issues, and continuously developing technical knowledge through exposure to emerging technologies, industry best practices, and collaborative learning within the development team.

 

THE COMPANY

Apcopay Limited, orchestrated by Synthesis, is a Single Layer Payments Orchestration Platform, that has been supporting merchants since 2004. It provides a unified, all-in-one solution, offering over 40 acquiring banks and 240+ payment options, processing 100 currencies for over 1200 merchants in 25 countries and connecting through a range of payment methods, including options such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Union Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

 

THE REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will hold an MQF Level 6 qualification (Bachelor's Degree or equivalent) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, and have between one and three years of experience in software development or a similar technical role. Candidates should demonstrate working knowledge of C# .NET / .NET Core, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and object-oriented programming principles.

 

Candidates should possess a good understanding of software development methodologies, database design principles, and modern software architecture concepts, including RESTful APIs, Microservices, and web-based application development. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and exposure to Agile development practices will be considered essential.

 

We are seeking individuals with a passion for technology and software development, who are eager to learn, develop their technical capabilities, and contribute to the delivery of scalable and maintainable software solutions. Experience with front-end technologies and frameworks, responsive web application development, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Azure services, or payment-related systems will be considered advantageous.

 

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills in English, and a collaborative approach to working within cross-functional teams. A commitment to continuous improvement, code quality, innovation, and professional development will be highly valued.
