Senior Backend Engineer

Role responsibilities:

• Design and build the systems that power live strategy games played by users around the world.
• Break down a legacy monolith into modern, scalable microservices that evolve with our games.
• Own and improve core backend services used by game teams, designers, and monetisation systems.
• Work closely with game designers and product teams to turn gameplay ideas into real, player-facing features.
• Ensure the games run smoothly at scale, optimising for performance, reliability, and responsiveness during live operations.
• Shape the architecture of the platform, contributing ideas that directly impact how the games are built and experienced.
• Continuously improve how they build, from code quality and testing to observability, automation, and AI-assisted development.

Requirements

• 5+ Years Experience in Java development and Java frameworks (Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit5)
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and familiar with PHP and Node.Js
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred), CI/CD (GitHub Actions), networking, and debugging distributed systems is a plus
• Exposure to agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Have a passion for gaming.

Education and Experience

• Diploma/Degree in a related IT field is preferred.
