This role is primarily responsible for overseeing all machining and project-related operations within the company. It requires close coordination with departmental shift leaders, subcontractors, maintenance engineers, and management teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality components and services.

Responsibilities

  • Adopt a hands-on leadership approach by actively leading and supporting operational interventions when required.
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify skill gaps, performance issues, and development opportunities within the team, escalating improvement recommendations to management.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all Health, Safety, Security, and company procedures during daily operations.
  • Verify that all necessary work permits are obtained, maintained, and followed throughout the execution of tasks.
  • Facilitate the successful completion of assigned work in line with established plans, schedules, and communications.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders requiring support or services.
  • Ensure all documentation, reports, and shift handovers are completed accurately, on time, and in full.
  • Monitor and manage team attendance, punctuality, and personal timekeeping standards.
  • Generate, investigate, and close Safety and Security near-miss reports, while supporting additional compliance-related activities within the business units.
  • Deliver engineering tasks and A3 projects on time and in full (OTIF), consistently meeting performance expectations.
  • Maintain workplace organisation standards to ensure the area remains audit-ready and aligned with company requirements.
  • Sustain and improve Operational Excellence standards within the areas of responsibility.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role and within individual capabilities, as required to support business objectives.

Requirements & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience operating engineering workshop machinery and equipment.
  • Proven expertise in the repair, fabrication, and manufacture of security printing machine components.
  • Strong background within a production or manufacturing environment, with the ability to take a practical, hands-on approach to supporting operational teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in planning, estimating, monitoring, and reporting engineering and maintenance activities.

This is a day shift role with the possibility of overtime.
