Maintenance Manager (Retail Outlets)

Our client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations across our retail stores and HORECA outlets. 

Reporting to the Head of Maintenance and Building Services, you will lead a team of technicians and mechanics to ensure all shop equipment, HVAC systems, and commercial refrigeration units are fully operational, compliant, and safe. You will act as the technical guide for your team, coordinating 3rd-party contractors, and stepping in with a hands-on approach when needed.

The Main Responsibilities include: 

• Lead, schedule, and supervise technicians and mechanics day-to-day.
• Guide technicians through troubleshooting; assign and manage 3rd-party contractors as needed.
• Step in directly to assist with complex mechanical or operational repairs when necessary.
• Execute preventive maintenance programs for shop equipment, HVAC, and structures to minimize downtime.
• Oversee maintenance readiness for new store launches (Project Manager leads builds/fit-outs).
• Serve as 2nd-tier on-call escalation after shop hours (6:00 AM – 9:00 PM) for urgent issues (technicians are 1st contact).
• Ensure full compliance with OHSA regulations, safety standards, and sanitation requirements.
• Support the Head of Maintenance with operational updates and reporting.

Working Hours

Monday - Friday 

8AM - 5PM 

Requirements

• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Proactive, organized, flexible, and detail-oriented.
• Valid driving license for store visits across Malta and Gozo.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years in a maintenance role.
• Minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory position.
• Background in retail, commercial, or multi-site facilities is a plus.
