Role Overview
We are collaborating with our Client to recruit a highly skilled IT Security Specialist. This senior role is pivotal in safeguarding the Business’s digital assets, strengthening security measures, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The successful candidate will apply advanced technical expertise to protect systems, detect and respond to threats, and guide security initiatives across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Security Assessments & Threat Analysis: Conduct in-depth evaluations of security systems, analyse potential threats, and perform vulnerability testing to identify and mitigate risks.
• Security Architecture & Policy Development: Provide expert guidance on technical security controls, and develop and maintain policies, standards, and procedures in line with recognised frameworks.
• Incident Response & Forensics: Lead investigations into complex security incidents, perform forensic analysis, and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
• Risk Management & Compliance Support: Assist with risk assessments, documentation, and reporting, and support regulatory compliance and audit activities.
• Security Tools Optimisation: Configure, tune, and enhance security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, and SOAR, including automation of processes where applicable.
• Project Leadership & Awareness Initiatives: Drive technical components of security projects, support awareness campaigns, and mentor junior team members as a technical point of escalation.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other teams to ensure secure deployment of systems and processes.
• Additional Duties: Undertake other responsibilities assigned by the IT Security Manager as required.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 6 years in information security, including at least 2 years in a senior or specialist capacity. Experience within regulated industries is preferred.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English; proficiency in Maltese is an asset.
• Communication Skills: Strong ability to present technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative and team-oriented with a proactive approach to mentoring and guidance.
• Technical Skills: Advanced expertise in security technologies (SIEM, EDR, SOAR), network and endpoint security, and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell). Deep understanding of Linux, Windows, and security frameworks such as ISO27001, CIS Controls, OWASP, and COBIT.
• Organisation: Well-organised with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Self-Motivated: Driven to proactively address security challenges and enhance system resilience.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to identify risks and implement effective solutions.
