Role Overview

Heroix is partnering with our Client, a prominent organisation within the food manufacturing sector, to recruit a Production Manager who will play a vital role in overseeing daily manufacturing activities. This position is responsible for ensuring production processes operate efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards, while supporting operational improvements and contributing to the Company’s long-term manufacturing objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Direct and coordinate daily production activities, ensuring smooth workflows and consistent achievement of business objectives.
  • Production Planning: Develop, manage, and oversee manufacturing schedules to ensure products are produced in line with customer requirements, operational capacity, and commercial priorities.
  • Resource Management: Maximise the effective use of employees, equipment, raw ingredients, and packaging materials to achieve optimal efficiency and minimise unnecessary costs.
  • Quality & Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations, quality procedures, HACCP, GMP, and workplace health and safety standards throughout all manufacturing processes.
  • Performance Improvement: Analyse production performance indicators, identify areas for improvement, and implement initiatives that enhance productivity, reduce losses, and strengthen operational results.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor, motivate, and support production supervisors and manufacturing teams, fostering accountability, engagement, and continuous professional development.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments including supply chain, procurement, maintenance, quality assurance, and logistics to maintain uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Systems & Reporting: Ensure accurate production records, inventory monitoring, and operational reporting through ERP platforms, including systems such as Microsoft Dynamics and SAP.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture focused on operational excellence by introducing improved working methods and supporting Lean Manufacturing or similar efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Education: A degree or diploma in Food Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline would be considered advantageous.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years’ experience within food production or FMCG environments, including at least three years in a managerial production role overseeing high-volume operations.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is essential for this role. The ability to communicate effectively in Maltese will be considered an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with teams, senior management, and key stakeholders, ensuring effective coordination across multiple functions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong people management capabilities with the ability to build motivated teams, encourage collaboration, and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Technical Skills: Good understanding of ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics and SAP, together with strong knowledge of production planning, inventory processes, food safety, and quality management frameworks.
  • Organisation: Excellent planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple operational demands while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-Motivated: A proactive individual who takes ownership of responsibilities and continuously seeks opportunities to enhance operational performance.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with the capability to identify operational challenges and implement practical, effective solutions.
