Job Description:
Whilst reporting to the Head Chef, the Kebab/Gyro Chef will be responsible for delivering authentic Greek flavours to our guests in Malta. You will maintain a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment while contributing to the high-paced service typical of the Maltese dining scene. Your role includes active participation in menu innovation and high-standard food preparation.
Duties

· Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure conformance to safe and sanitary food-handling standards

· Prepare and cook high-quality Greek specialties, including souvlaki, gyros, and traditional meze amongst others.

· Reduce stock wastage and ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and dating and rotating stock

· Collaborate with other personnel to plan and develop recipes or menus, taking into account such factors as costs, special event needs, the number of customers and seasonal availability of ingredients

· Comply with all employer guidelines and legal requirements for health and safety, hygiene, fire safety, licensing and employment

· Work in close cooperation with front of house and fellow back of house personnel to ensure a smooth running of the operations

Work Schedule

· 40 hours a week split as required by restaurant opening hours

· Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends/holidays as required

Experience

· Minimum experience of 1 year in a similar grilling or line cook position.

· Minimum experience of 1 year within a fast-paced restaurant is highly preferred.

· Strong understanding of grilling techniques and food safety protocols.

Knowledge and Skills Required


Ideal candidate would preferably have a diploma in food preparation

• Food Handling Course 

• Basic first aid Course 

• Basic fire Course 

• Able to proficiently communicate in English 

• Able to communicate in Greek will be considered an asset

• Excellent professional communication skills, appearance, and behaviour ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure 

• Must have problem-solving abilities, be self-motivated and organised 

• Excellent talent to interact with people in a positive and courteous manner 

• Ability to multitask and prioritise
