About the Department

The Financial Crime Compliance function strengthens the MFSA’s role in preventing money laundering, terrorism financing, and other financial crimes involving Authorised Persons. It supports the Authority’s authorisation and supervisory teams across all sectors and collaborates with the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit, the Sanctions Monitoring Board, and other national and international stakeholders through various Memoranda of Understanding. The function is structured into three teams: onsite, offsite, and policy and risk. The onsite team conducts AML supervisory inspections as agents of the FIAU, the offsite team oversees licence holders to detect and mitigate risks, and the policy and risk team monitors legislative developments and supports their implementation within the function.

About the Role

During the Employment Period, the Employee shall carry out the following duties: -Collate, analyse, and process data through a range of tools such as MS Excel, and to also ensure that such data and other records are kept up to date; -Carry out research analysis; -Carry out pre-visit preparatory work; -Compile supervisory information for statistical purposes; -Coordinate with Supervisory functions, other local authorities and Licence Holders; -Communication, support and customer service of internal and external stakeholders; -Undergo other duties and tasks as may be assigned by senior management according to exigencies as may be required.

About you

To qualify for this role, you will need to be currently reading for a first degree in any of the following subjects: criminology, law, accounting, banking and finance, and/or any other related course.

The applicant must also possess: the ability to multi-task and, work both on own initiative and in a team; good knowledge of MS Office particularly MS Excel and MS PowerPoint; have good verbal and written communication skills; and have a desire to learn.
