Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is looking for an R&D Prototype Test Engineer to join their growing team. Your main responsibilities will be to:
Assemble and modify electronic prototypes, including PCB population, soldering, and rework activities
Execute iterative prototyping cycles, incorporating test feedback and design updates
Work closely with engineering teams to enhance manufacturability and testability of designs
Plan and support prototype builds, ensuring readiness for transition into early-stage production
Define and document build procedures, capturing improvements and key learnings
Assist in scaling prototypes into pilot runs and initial manufacturing phases
Monitor and evaluate build times to establish baseline production performance metrics
Detect and resolve issues related to components, PCB layout, and assembly processes
Support sourcing efforts by identifying suitable component alternatives to mitigate supply risks and reduce costs
Perform validation and troubleshooting using standard electronic lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies)
Contribute to the design and implementation of test solutions, including ICT and functional test fixtures for PCB verification
Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, procurement, and production to improve product performance and reliability
Provide on-site support when required during prototype builds and production ramp-up at various locations
Requirements
Proficiency in using laboratory instruments for testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits
Exposure to PCB design software (e.g., Altium Designer) is beneficial
Solid knowledge of electronic components (both passive and active) and their behavior within circuits
Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical information from component datasheets
Strong organizational and coordination abilities, with the capacity to manage tasks independently and collaboratively within a team
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
Practical experience in electronic prototyping, PCB assembly, or manufacturing environments is advantageous
