About the Department
The Data Management and Business Intelligence function ensures timely and effective decision-making across the Authority through effective data and records management, and business intelligence reporting, to support risk-based supervision. The function is responsible for driving data governance, data quality management and integrity, as well as data architecture. They also manage a centralised data warehouse and BI analytics platform to provide ongoing insights, analyses and operational dashboards for end users. This role forms part of the Data Warehouse & BI team within the Data Management and Business Intelligence function. The team sits at the heart of the MFSA’s data operations, from sourcing and transforming raw data, to storing it and turning it into analytics and reports. They partner closely with internal functions to deliver custom data products and solutions that support better, data-driven decisions. The team owns and continuously evolves the Authority’s Data Warehouse, builds standardised reporting frameworks to strengthen market oversight, and provides powerful analytics through modern tools, to spot trends early on. They are also gearing up for future Artificial Intelligence integration to unlock even more value from the data they handle.
About the Role
The Senior Data Engineering Manager is responsible for the development, operation, maintenance and continuous enhancement of the Authority’s Data Warehouse environment and associated Business Intelligence delivery layer. The role ensures that data pipelines, data models, reporting structures and BI outputs are reliable, performant, well governed and aligned with business and regulatory requirements. Working within a small specialist team, the role provides hands-on technical leadership for the design and delivery of data integration pipelines, curated data views and BI-ready datasets, while ensuring effective operational support and continuous improvement of the data platform. The role acts as a key delivery and operational interface between business stakeholders, data product ownership, BI users, and wider technology and platform teams.

About you
This role calls for candidates with an academic qualification in Information Systems, Business & IT, Data Science, or a related discipline at National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 6 or higher, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC), or a widely recognised professional certification at an equivalent level.
Candidates should also possess a minimum of eight (8) years working experience in an area related to the role, such as in the fields of Business Intelligence.
If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least fifteen (15) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
