About the Department

The FinTech Supervision function is responsible for the authorisation and supervision of entities operating under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and the Financial Institutions Act. The function also acts as the Authority’s centre of expertise on digital finance and FinTech-related supervisory and policy matters. The function also works closely with internal stakeholders, national competent authorities, and European institutions to ensure consistent, effective, and forward-looking supervision in a rapidly evolving digital finance environment.

About the Role

As a Senior Analyst within the Onsite Team of the Fintech Supervision Function, you will be responsible for the following key duties:

  • Preparing and reviewing deliverables (such as inspection reports), implementing supervisory standards, contributing to the oversight of regulatory requirements and assessing the performance and risks of financial institutions and crypto-asset service providers;
  • Managing and leading engagements with licence holders throughout the onsite inspections lifecycle, including maintaining relationships before, during, and after the onsite inspection;
  • Assisting the Line Manager in the preparation of reports for review by senior management;
  • Sharing information and collaborating with other sections within the FinTech Supervision Function, as well as with other functions across the Authority;
  • Supporting the authorisation and supervisory workstreams under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and the Financial Institutions Act;
  • Assisting a team of analysts with research and data analysis;
  • Compiling supervisory information for statistical purposes;
  • Coordinating and liaising with Supervisory Units, the FIAU and other Regulatory Authorities;

You will also be expected to undertake any other duties that may arise depending on the exigencies of the Function and the Authority.

About you

We are looking for candidates with solid academic background which may be considered as relevant to this post. The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

You will also possess a minimum of five (5) years working experience in the area related to the role. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred.

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following skills/experience:

  • Have an interest in financial services;
  • Self-driven and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver quality work under pressure;
  • Attention to detail and strive for quality and accuracy of reports raised;
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills;
  • Ability to build collaborative working relationships, including internally within the Authority as well as with external stakeholders; and
  • Sound analytical skills.
