Compliance Officer

Our client, operating within the payments and bitcoin industry is looking for a Compliance Officer to help build the company in Malta. The Compliance Officer is responsible for maintaining an effective compliance framework and ensuring the organisation operates in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, and licensing requirements. The role provides independent oversight, regulatory guidance, and support to management in managing compliance and financial crime risks.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor compliance with relevant Maltese and European regulatory requirements, including licence obligations.
• Perform compliance reviews, monitoring activities, and risk assessments to identify potential areas of concern.
• Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
• Keep abreast of regulatory changes and support their implementation across the business.
• Serve as the primary contact for regulators and coordinate responses to regulatory enquiries and inspections.
• Prepare and oversee regulatory filings, notifications, and reporting obligations.
• Support the organisation's AML/CFT framework, including monitoring financial crime risks and assisting with suspicious transaction reporting where required.
• Deliver compliance and AML/CFT training and provide ongoing regulatory guidance to staff and management.
• Investigate compliance incidents, oversee remediation actions, and maintain relevant compliance records and registers.
• Produce periodic compliance reports for senior management and the Board.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of MFSA Financial Institution Rulebooks, FIAU ImplemenƟng Procedures, and EU financial regulations.
• Extensive local previous experience in a similar role
• PQ'd by the MFSA

Education and Experience

• Degree in Law, Finance, Banking, Compliance, or related field.
