Role Overview
In this senior leadership position, you will oversee the Client Accounting function, ensuring the consistent delivery of accurate and compliant accounting services to a diverse portfolio of clients. Reporting directly to a Board-level representative, the role combines strategic oversight, operational leadership, team development, process optimisation, and active involvement in commercial growth initiatives. You will also work closely with other internal departments to ensure an integrated and seamless service offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Department Leadership: Provide overall direction for the Client Accounting team, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and maintaining high service standards across all deliverables.
  • Financial Reporting Oversight: Direct the preparation and review of statutory financial statements, management reporting, and regulatory submissions for clients across different sectors.
  • Team Development: Guide, support, and evaluate team members, promoting a high-performance culture built on accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Process & Systems Improvement: Continuously assess operational workflows and introduce enhancements, including automation and digital solutions, to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Client & Business Engagement: Strengthen existing client relationships while contributing to new business opportunities and supporting the broader commercial growth of the firm.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

  • Education: ACCA qualified or equivalent professional accounting qualification is required. Warranted Accountant status is essential.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years in a senior or managerial position within a client accounting or CSP environment. Experience within legal services, corporate services, or the gaming sector will be considered advantageous.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is essential. Maltese language skills will be considered an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with clients, senior stakeholders, and internal teams in a clear and professional manner.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven capability in building relationships, influencing others, and working collaboratively across departments.
  • Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of accounting systems, financial reporting tools, Microsoft Office applications, and familiarity with Maltese tax and VAT regulations.
  • Organisation: Highly structured approach with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines.
  • Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, ownership, and a proactive approach to driving improvements and achieving objectives.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical thinking with the ability to resolve complex issues efficiently and implement practical solutions.
