Role Overview
Our Client is seeking an Accounts & Finance Executive to support both its internal finance function and the delivery of accounting services to a diverse portfolio of clients. This role requires a meticulous and organised professional who can manage accounting processes, maintain accurate financial records, assist with reporting requirements, and build strong relationships with clients. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic professional services environment, utilising accounting systems such as Sage and Xero while contributing to efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Internal Finance Management: Maintain accurate internal accounting records by processing financial transactions, managing invoices, monitoring receivables and payables, and ensuring that day-to-day finance activities are completed efficiently.
  • Financial Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations across bank accounts, suppliers, and customers while investigating discrepancies and ensuring financial information remains accurate and up to date.
  • Reporting & Compliance Support: Assist with the preparation of management information, financial reports, audit documentation, and internal control processes to support effective decision-making.
  • Client Accounting Services: Manage accounting activities for a portfolio of clients, including recording transactions, posting journals, preparing reconciliations, and supporting the preparation of financial statements and periodic reports.
  • Client Liaison & Finance Support: Communicate with clients to gather required documentation, address queries, provide updates, and deliver reliable accounting support while assisting the wider finance team with additional tasks when required.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

  • Education: A Degree in Accountancy and/or ACCA qualification, either completed or currently being pursued.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience within a similar accounting position in Malta, preferably gained within a professional services or client-focused environment.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, reconciliations, reporting procedures, and applicable financial requirements.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience using accounting platforms such as Xero and Sage would be considered advantageous, together with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office applications.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative and client-oriented approach, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Organisation: Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Self-Motivated: A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical ability with the confidence to identify issues, investigate discrepancies, and provide practical solutions.
