Accountant

F. Schembri Group is a dynamic group of companies with diverse interests including construction, road works, mechanical and electrical works, joinery, steel fabrication, cleaning services, hotel/restaurant industry, horse racing and property development, and we are seeking an Accountant to join our finance team.

The main responsibilities would include:

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations and provide leadership to a small team;
• Preparation of management accounts, financial budgets and any reports which management may request;
• Maintaining Cash Flow and reviewing regular project costings;
• Preparation of VAT returns and any other fiscal submissions;
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and performance;
• Recording, organising and structuring of financial data;
• Collaborating with the various departments within the Group to ensure that information is structured in line with reporting requirements;
• Analysing financial information;
• Controlling financial records and data;
• Liaising with external auditors and coordinate audit preparations and requirements.

Requirements

• An Accountancy qualification (ACCA or University Degree) or in the process of obtaining such a Qualification;
• Able to work both in a team and on own initiative;
• Ability to solve problems;
• A detail-oriented, numerate and highly organised individual;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Enjoys working in a challenging environment;
• Preferably have knowledge of Cloud based accounting software and Microsoft Office

Tools:

• Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines;
• Significant Accounting experience is also considered;
• Great communication skills and fluency in Maltese and English;
• Have a clean police conduct.
