Malta Financial Services Authority is currently looking to recruit a Junior Analyst (Listings) to join their team on a temporary basis.

About the Department:
The Capital Markets Supervision Function oversees financial markets to ensure investor protection and orderly markets. This is achieved through various policy and supervisory work done at the stages of primary market, secondary market and post-trading.
The Capital Markets Supervision Function’s responsibilities include the processing of applications for admissibility to listing on regulated markets in Malta, the approval of prospectuses in terms of the Prospectus Regulation, the supervision of the continuing obligations of companies having securities listed on regulated markets in Malta, the supervision of markets to identify any market abuse, the authorisation and supervision of trading venues, central securities depositories and crowdfunding platforms, the supervision of financial and non-financial entities falling under the scope of EMIR and SFTR, the data quality assurance of submissions made under EMIR, SFTR, MiFIR and CSDR, the supervision of administrators, contributors and users of benchmarks in terms of the Benchmarks Regulation and the oversight of activities in terms of the Securitisation Act and the Securitisation Regulation.

The Capital Markets Supervision is also actively involved in various other initiatives such as the DLT MTF Pilot Regime and the European Single Electronic Format (ESEF).

The Role
We are looking for a talented individual to join an ever-growing Capital Markets Supervision team. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Review applications for offers to the public and admissibility to the listing of financial instruments on Regulated Markets, including the review of prospectuses
  • Analyse financial information including profit forecasts and estimates, historical financial information, pro forma financial information and alternative performance measures
  • Assess proposed corporate governance structures and carry out due diligence on involved persons
  • Draft and present memoranda to the Executive Committee and the Board of Governors of the MFSA, as required
  • Carry out work related to EU developments in the area
  • Undertake such other tasks as may be directed from time to time by line management, depending on the exigencies of the Capital Markets Supervision Function.


About You:
The ideal candidate must have a solid academic background in the area of accountancy, banking and finance, law or other relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.

If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least five (5) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.

The following skills and attributes are important for this position:

  • Interest in the area of Capital Markets and Finance
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail; and
  • The ability to work in a team.


The preferred candidate will be given various opportunities to learn and be trained for the role, through various mechanisms which the Authority holds such as the Financial Supervisors Academy and on-the-job training.
