We are looking for a Risk & AML Operations Manager to join our team in Malta.
The RoleThe Risk & AML Operations Manager plays a key role in leading both the Risk and AML teams, combining people management with operational oversight to ensure the smooth execution of processes and adherence to regulatory standards. This role focuses on supporting team members' professional growth, managing performance, and fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment. Alongside team leadership, the Risk & AML Operations Manager oversees day-to-day operations and quality assurance checks to maintain high standards across both teams. Working closely with senior leadership, the Risk & AML Operations Manager helps align team goals with broader departmental objectives, driving both operational efficiency and a strong team culture.
· Lead and support both the Risk and AML teams, focusing on individual development, team performance, and maintaining a positive work environment.
· Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring adherence to AML policies and procedures while maintaining high-quality standards.
· Act as the primary decision maker for all escalated cases from within the Risk and AML teams while escalating further to the Head of Department when necessary.
· Manage team schedules, including shift allocation, overtime and leave requests.
· Provide regular feedback, conduct 1:1s, and manage team performance, addressing any concerns or challenges that arise.
· Handle internal and external escalations related to operational issues, technical malfunctions, and team-related matters.
· Collaborate with senior leadership on departmental strategies and initiatives, aligning team goals with broader business objectives.
· Oversee recruitment processes, including screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and organizing training schedules for new hires.
· Support the development and execution of team improvement plans, ensuring continuous enhancement of team performance and efficiency.
· Proven experience in AML & Risk operations or a related field, with a strong focus on team leadership and development.
· Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage schedules and resource planning efficiently.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and engage with team members at all levels.
· Experience in recruitment, training, and performance management.
· Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to address operational issues and team concerns in a timely manner.
· Ability to collaborate with senior leadership on strategic initiatives and align team goals with broader department objectives.
· Proficiency in operational tools and software (Excel, scheduling tools, etc.) with the ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues.
· Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in reporting, scheduling, and performance management.
