Senior Systems Engineer

Our client, operating in the retail industry, is looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer with deep expertise in on-premises infrastructure (servers, storage, virtualisation) and cloud platforms to design, optimise, and manage our hybrid IT environments, to join their team. 

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for ensuring high-performance, resilient, and scalable systems while driving modernisation efforts across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructure.

• Deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade bare-metal servers, SAN / Storage and hyperconverged infrastructure.
• Administer and optimise VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or KVM environments, including cluster management, resource allocation, and performance tuning.
• Design and implement hybrid cloud solutions with a focus on seamless workload mobility, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Architect and maintain failover clusters, storage replication and backup.

Requirements

• Proficiency in cloud migration and hybrid cloud networking
• Scripting skills for automation and API integrations.
• Strong understanding of network-attached storage (NFS, SMB), RAID configurations, and storage QoS
• Certifications: VMware VCP, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, Nutanix NCP, or Storage-specific.

Education and Experience

• 5+ years managing enterprise servers (HPE, Dell, Cisco UCS), storage arrays, and virtualization platforms.
• Hands-on experience with software-defined storage, fiber channel/iSCSI, and storage tiering.
