Role Overview
Our Client is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Technical Specialist to join their Fixed Network team based in Gozo. This is a technician-level position focused on supporting, maintaining, and expanding the hybrid fibre-coax (HFC) network that delivers internet, TV, and telephony services across Malta. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of hands-on technical activities, including installation, splicing, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. This role is ideal for someone with experience in HFC networks and a strong understanding of power principles, who is eager to grow their technical career within a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Emergency Fault Diagnosis & Repair: Rapidly identify, prioritise, and resolve faults in the HFC network infrastructure, minimising service disruption and downtime.
• Network Maintenance: Conduct scheduled and preventive maintenance on coaxial and fibre optic infrastructure to ensure optimal network performance and service quality.
• Infrastructure Construction & Restoration: Execute the construction, splicing, activation, and emergency restoration of new and existing HFC infrastructure.
• Training & Knowledge-Sharing: Mentor team members and participate in structured learning activities, including equipment-specific training and health and safety modules.
• Safety & Environment: Consistently follow health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to safeguard personnel, equipment, and the environment.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

• Education: No specific electrical licence is required.
• Experience: Prior experience in installing, testing, troubleshooting, splicing, and maintaining HFC access networks used for internet, TV, and telephone services is highly desirable.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
• Communication Skills: Clear and effective communicator, able to convey technical issues and resolutions.
• Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative team player with a respectful and proactive attitude.
• Technical Skills: Practical knowledge of RF principles (alignment, leakage, signal levels), fibre/coax splicing, reading and interpreting network design documents, and a good understanding of power concepts (Voltage, Current, Resistance).
• Organisation: Able to plan and prioritise tasks efficiently while handling multiple responsibilities.
• Self-Motivated: Willingness to take initiative, embrace learning opportunities, and share expertise.
• Problem-Solving: Capable of troubleshooting complex network issues swiftly and effectively under pressure.
