If you are passionate about Linux and eager to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment, we are looking for a Systems Engineer to help build, maintain, and optimize our on-premises Linux infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in supporting application development and production environments, ensuring system reliability, security, and scalability.

Our team works with a broad range of middleware, networking, and security tools, with limited use of containers in specific areas.

As a Systems Engineer, you'll collaborate closely with multiple teams to provide technical solutions that drive our business forward. If you thrive on problem-solving, process automation, and continuously improving systems, we'd love to hear from you!

Location: Malta/Serbia. Only applicants based in these locations will be taken into consideration.

Working hours: 40h/week, Monday-Friday

This position will be included in the on-call rotation.

Key Job Requirements:

  • Manage Linux systems in a large, complex, and highly available on-premises infrastructure, ensuring stability, and performance.

  • Develop and maintain automation and configuration management solutions (Puppet preferred, Ansible or similar tools also applicable).
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to optimize infrastructure for business needs.
  • Act as a technical resource for other engineers, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Help us on automation and modernization. Identify manual and legacy processes and work to implement automated solutions using scripting languages, configuration management and orchestration tools.
  • Research, test, and implement new technologies to enhance infrastructure resilience, efficiency and reliability.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience managing enterprise Linux environments.
  • 2+ years of experience with configuration management tools like Puppet (preferred) or Ansible.

  • Experience administering MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other SQL databases in a production setting.
  • Understanding of Linux system security and best practices for hardening. Some of the technologies and services in our security landscape include SELinux, TLS certificates, cryptographic ciphers, and compliance standards (such as CIS benchmarks) and familiarity with them will be beneficial.
  • Experience with scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, or similar) and working with APIs.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to document processes and collaborate effectively.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with virtualization, F5 Load Balancers, and networking concepts.
  • A background in system architecture and high-availability infrastructure.
  • Exposure to software development practices, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
