Junior System Administrator

Job Description
Hugo's Group in Malta is looking to recruit a Junior System Administrator to join their team on a full-time basis. 

Job Role: 
The Junior System Administrator is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing our software, hardware, and networks. Whilst being resourceful and able to diagnose problems quickly and solve them, the Junior Systems Administrator should also have the ability to communicate accurately and clearly, with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users, to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing network servers and technology tools
• Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
• Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls
• Install and configure software and hardware
• Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
• Set up accounts and workstations
• Troubleshoot issues and outages
• Upgrade systems with new releases and models as needed

Qualifications & Assets:

• Higher National Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline would be considered an asset
• Proven experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management
• Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery would be considered an asset
• Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively and flexibility with work schedule to accommodate last-minute requests
• Ability to work a variable shift pattern
• Possess an eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure
• Resourcefulness and problem-solving attitude
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment
• Working knowledge of various computer software programs including but not limited to restaurant management software and POS systems would be considered an asset
