The Trade Technician reports directly to the Survival Equipment Station Manager.
Responsibilities:
• To adhere to MIYY policy described in quality management policy
• The Trade Technician in the Life Saving Equipment Section has to acknowledge the importance of the Safety of Life At Sea (SOLAS) thus has to ensure that the equipment is serviced according the manufacturer’s instructions and according to the Health and Safety requirements.
• As Trade Technician, the employee has to support the Senior Technicians in any areas of service they will need, and he also has to consult with the Senior Technicians in any difficulties he will have during the services
• The Trade Technician has to attend certification courses from time to time to be certified for lifesaving equipment services
• If needed he has to consult to the manufacturers manuals and read the related bulletins the manager receives from time to time keep updated to the latest upgrades and information
• The Trade Technician may be temporary assigned to another department as an assistant with the skilled tradesmen
• Assist in evaluating jobs for quoting purposes
• Filling correctly the LSA equipment service sheet & report any discrepancies found from the previous service.
• Keep a clean and safe environment in the workshop and any other places he is assigned to work.
• Assisting in stock taking
• Report to his direct superior the progress of work and any other issues
• To suggest to his manager solutions when detecting issues (technical, method, planification)
• To suggest to his manager all changes that could increase efficiency, client satisfaction regarding quality management policy
• Upkeep of tools and machinery used
• To use in good order all the Personal Protective Equipment supplied that includes MIYY uniform and respect the health and safety policy of the company
• The employee must follow the company rules and health and safety code
• The employee must always wear the appropriate and clean uniform as supplied from the company
Competences and Qualifications
• Fluent in English language speaking
• Technical background
• Willing to attend courses and eventually get qualified
• Computer skills
