Brazer

Position Summary :

The Brazer is a skilled tradesperson responsible for joining metal components using the brazing process. This involves heating base metals to a specific temperature and applying a filler metal to create a durable bond without melting the base metals. The role requires precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to interpret technical drawings to ensure high-quality assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

· Brazing Operations:

o Operate brazing equipment, including torches and induction systems, to join metal parts.

o Select appropriate filler metals, fluxes, and heating methods based on material specifications and joint requirements.

o Perform various brazing techniques such as torch brazing, furnace brazing, and induction brazing.

· Preparation and Assembly:

o Clean and prepare metal surfaces to ensure proper bonding.

o Assemble components in fixtures or jigs, aligning them accurately before brazing.

o Apply flux to joints to prevent oxidation and ensure a clean bond.

· Inspection and Quality Control:

o Inspect completed joints for defects such as cracks, voids, or inadequate bonding.

o Rework or repair defective joints to meet quality standards.

o Maintain detailed records of work performed, including materials used and inspection results.

· Equipment Maintenance:

o Regularly inspect and maintain brazing equipment to ensure optimal performance.

o Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors promptly.

· Safety and Compliance:

o Adhere to all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

o Follow company policies and industry standards to maintain a safe working environment.

Working Conditions

· Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, fumes, and noise.

· Standing for extended periods and handling heavy materials may be required.

· Shift work, including evenings and weekends, may be necessary depending on production schedules.
