Environment Resources Authority in Malta is currently looking to recruit an Environment Technical Officer II to join their team on a full-time basis.
Responsibilities:
General assistance to Environment Officers in carrying out the functions of the Biodiversity & Water Unit
Implementing biodiversity, nature, and water-related surveillance and monitoring needs, through site visits and reporting, hence covering aspects such as species and habitats identification, assessment of pressures thereon, and surface water analyses
Assisting with site visits and related fieldwork for data collection and interpretation, amongst others
Assisting Environment Officers and other colleagues in preparing and implementing plans, policies, and reports on matters relating to administration, management, sampling, surveillance, and monitoring, particularly in relation to biodiversity, nature, and water-related aspects
Assisting in setting up and maintenance of necessary databases and registers
Interpreting measures necessary to be taken for the protection of the environment
Liaison between relevant teams and Units within ERA on matters of mutual concern
Making use of information technology tools to input and present data, and hence to formulate reports, including the creation and updating of spatial data
Carrying out related subsidiary and ancillary tasks within the normal flexibility of the job as directed by the Unit Manager or other supervisor to whom the Environment Technical Officer is assigned
Handling data with the strictest confidentiality as necessary
Use of certain equipment, including the preparation of necessary calibration and other solutions for pertinent analyses
Assist in performing periodic quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) work, including equipment adjustment and calibration as required.
Requirements: Qualifications Four (4) ‘O’ levels including Maltese, Maths, and English and either a Science Subject or Geography (MQF level 3 Sec Grades 1-5)
AND
One (1) A-Level in a Science Subject or Geography (MQF Level 4)
Two (2) years of working experience in the field of Environment
Possess a Category B driving licence.
Skills
Interpersonal, report writing, communication, and data collection and analysis skills and preferably computer literate.
