About Supervisory Quality Assurance:
Supervisory Quality Assurance is a control function within the second line of defense. Its main objective is to provide management with assurance that supervision processes are being carried out in the most effective and efficient manner, consistently (i.e. harmonised/proportional practices across different sectors and also on a cross-sectorial basis) and in line with best practices. To achieve these objectives, SQA officials carry out independent quality reviews on ongoing procedures and also assess and provide recommendations regarding new projects in the pipeline. 

The Role:
As a Junior Assistant your responsibilities shall include:
  • Assisting in the preparation and administration of the supervisory quality reviews;
  • Assisting in the drafting and review of internal procedures. Such reviews are of a horizontal nature, covering processes across the different sectors hence, enabling you to gain excellent insight into the supervisory practices and related regulations across the different financial services sectors supervised by the MFSA;
  • Participating in various fora and working groups, thereby giving you the chance to broaden both your knowledge and networking skills; and
  • Assisting in other one-off projects and tasks which will require your involvement. 

About You:
We are looking for a dynamic team player who is eager to learn and is motivated to contribute with creative ideas and solutions. The role calls for an academic student who is currently reading for a degree in Financial Services, Law, Banking, Finance, Commerce or similar at MQF Level 6, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC)

Skills required for this role: 

  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritise work even when under time pressure;
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Strong computer literacy and knowledge of MS tools; and
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
