Bureau Veritas in Malta is currently looking to recruit an Inspector to join their team on a full-time basis. 

Job Role:
To carry out cargo inspections mainly with Petrochemical, Petroleum Products & Dry Goods, in accordance with the standards adopted by the Division as detailed below, and as directed by the Operations Coordinator.

No deviation from these standards should follow, without the express permission of the Operations Manager or his Deputy.

Responsibilities:
  • To perform cargo inspection according to the client instructions & under the latest guidelines as described in the relevant sections of ASTM / API MPMS / IP manuals, O&P Inspectorate manual and IFIA requirements
  • To perform all relevant ‘key test analysis’ as directed by the product being handled, with results being reported in accordance with Industry standards (where applicable) and the appropriate test methods
  • To exercise a high degree of confidentiality between the client(s) and the Company
  • To assist field supervisors/trainers and management in the development and training of new employees
  • To ensure that a high level of communication is achieved between the Operations Coordinator and the field, with all abnormalities being reported in a timely fashion
  • To perform any other duties related to inspection activities as reasonably requested by your Superiors.


Requirements:

  • No experience and/or qualifications are required as in-house training will be provided
  • To have knowledge about the Industry Standards and practices (IP, API MPMS, ASTM, etc.)
  • To be an effective communicator with the ability to work with a high level of accuracy in writing when preparing reports, presentations, and other documents as well as verbally when working with senior management and employees
  • To be able to work under pressure by keeping to stipulated time frames by determining priorities and organizing work accordingly
  • To be able to be a team player
  • To demonstrate confidence before a technical audience
  • To demonstrate confidence and tact when dealing with 3rd parties
  • To demonstrate a clear understanding of BV safety policies and local safety requirements.


Working Hours:

  • Irregular working hours; including weekends and full days offshore Principal Accountabilities
  • It is essential that liaison and cooperation within the BV are cultivated and maintained
  • This will lead to a greater understanding of the Group activities within the region resulting in improved profitability whilst increasing the ability to develop and exploit the markets. It is essential that strong lines of communication are maintained in order to fully benefit from the BV. Although the current BV strategy is to operate as a separate. Commodity; cooperation must be given to other Commodities when required
