Maintenance Manager

Simonds Farsons Cisk Plc in Malta is looking to recruit a Maintenance Manager to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job Role:
The chosen candidate will be responsible for the management of a technical team composed of a Technical Trade Leader and technicians that will be working within the Packaging Facility. The manager will have full responsibility for the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, installation, and commissioning tasks on plant and equipment, according to standards and established practices, and will be the main contact point in the event of plant breakdown to ensure the provision of prompt support to minimize downtime.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Assist the Packaging Manager to develop, design and integrate new packaging technologies and other improvements in the various processes s/he is responsible for;
• Be responsible for a Maintenance team and their development;
• Coach and develop the department's technical staff and manage their performance against set objectives;
• Manage staff through the Human Resources Information System and roster staff according to established company procedures;
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement with all team members, which includes due consideration to product and process quality and cost reduction;
• Manage the implementation of the preventive maintenance programme throughout the Packaging plant.  Schedule the relevant preventive maintenance tasks and assign their implementation to the team.
• Manage all spare parts for the different plants and equipment on the company's ERP system to ensure the availability of critical parts;
• Organize immediate troubleshooting and repairs in the case of plant breakdown, according to lean principles with the objective of minimizing downtime.
• Ensure that all works are carried out in line with the company's OHS, Hygiene, Quality, and Food Safety Standards.
• In liaison with Packaging Manager ensure that the maintenance program is maintained by exploiting line availability.;
• Monitor process, production data, and utility consumption trends regularly to identify the need for corrective and preventive maintenance.;
• Manage risk assessment reports and take any other necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of subordinates or of other employees;
• Be available outside normal working hours to assist and advise in the event of equipment breakdown and ensure that process downtime is kept to a minimum.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering.
• 3-5 years experience at a leadership level in a technical environment;
• Maintenance experience in electrical and mechanical installations as well as manufacturing process automation;
• Project management experience;
• Good organizational and decision-making skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and schedule the work of others;
• Strong leadership skills to provide technical direction to team members as well as external contractors;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
