Job Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision to the Project Management Department, driving continuous improvement and excellence in project delivery;
  • Define and implement departmental objectives, policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure successful project execution across all phases;
  • Guide, mentor, and support project managers, promoting professional development and ensuring consistent project performance;
  • Lead the development of comprehensive project plans, including scope, deliverables, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies to safeguard delivery targets;
  • Monitor departmental budgets, manage resource allocation, and oversee operational and training costs to ensure financial control and alignment with company goals;
  • Introduce cost-optimization strategies to enhance departmental efficiency and increase overall profitability;
  • Analyze performance indicators and financial data to identify process improvements and drive higher profit margins;
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify variation opportunities that add value while maintaining quality standards and client satisfaction;
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses, for senior management review and decision-making;
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including detailed Works in Progress (WIP) tracking, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory frameworks;
  • Allocate and manage internal resources effectively to meet project requirements and organizational priorities;
  • Partner with other departmental leaders to ensure optimal cross-functional resource utilization;
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and promote continuous skills development within the project management team;
  • Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, expectation management, and issue resolution;
  • Align stakeholder interests with project objectives through proactive coordination and relationship-building;
  • Address stakeholder concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely, professional manner;
  • Ensure all departmental activities comply with internal policies, industry regulations, and contractual obligations;
  • Oversee the implementation of legal, health, safety, and quality standards across all projects, fostering a culture of compliance and accountability.
Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Fire Safety & Security Management, or a related discipline, ideally with practical exposure to project environments;
  • A minimum of 3–4 years of proven experience in project management, with a track record of successfully delivering projects;
  • Possession of a valid Maltese driving license;
  • Proficient in project management tools, with a good understanding of budgeting and financial aspects of project delivery;
  • Basic understanding of verbal Maltese is considered an asset;
  • Project management certification (such as PMP or PRINCE2) would be considered an asset;

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly convey information and engage with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Skilled at building positive relationships and collaborating across all levels, with a professional and approachable demeanour;
  • Effective at resolving issues and negotiating project variations while maintaining client satisfaction;
  • Committed to understanding customer needs and delivering high-quality outcomes with meticulous attention to detail;
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking, with the ability to identify risks and implement practical solutions;
  • Organised and adaptable, able to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment;
  • Demonstrated leadership and team coordination capabilities, fostering a collaborative and goal-oriented work culture.
