Foster Clark Products Ltd in Malta is looking to recruit a Manufacturing Specialist to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job Role:
Under the direction of a Plant or Factory Manager, the Manufacturing Specialist oversees the daily production operations of the site, by monitoring operations for efficiency and safety, ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements and quality standards are met and followed. Ensuring that schedules set out by Planning are executed by the production teams. Provide leadership and line management to ensure that the team delivers the production targets and that KPIs and quality standards are met. 

Key Accountabilities:
Production Plan Execution:

  • Responsible for the execution of the weekly production schedule plan and all the related production activities in liaison with the Supply Planner.
  • Oversee day-to-day production operations through efficient planning to achieve production goals.
  • Ensure the operators achieve production targets and quality requirements at the lowest cost while analyzing data/trends for improving costs savings and efficiency, including waste reduction initiatives
  • Monitor performance and KPIs system for production and quality standards.
  • Lead organizational improvement initiatives to improve OEE
  • Engage in focused improvement activities to reduce waste
  • Serve as a first-level interface to general AX, coder, and bar code issues.

Quality:

  • Propose and lead Continuous Improvement projects based on data analysis.
  • Work closely with the Site Engineer to assist with preventive and breakdown maintenance to keep downtime at a minimum.
  • Assist with complying with health & safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, maintenance, and environmental regulations and targets
  • Engage in focused improvement activities to improve quality issues.

Warehouse Management:

  • Work closely with Store Administrator and Control Room Supervisor to coordinate material preparation.
  • Monitor product standards and quality control on all packaging machines at the facility.
  • Follow material shelf-life and coordinate activities for shelf life extension where applicable.
Trials:
  • Coordinate with the production planning, process support, purchasing, engineering, and quality departments the required trial and qualification activities in relation to new packaging material, new products on new lines, and minor equipment upgrades.
  • Planning and execution of the trial protocols.

Health & Safety:

  • Promote and ensure employees and work performed is done in a safe and healthy work environment
  • Monitor safety procedures
  • Ensure a safe work environment exists and the company’s safety and environmental objectives are achieved
  • Ensure all occupational health and safety regulations are respected and propose ways of improvement.

Leadership:

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Supervisors, workforce, and other Managers to ensure customer needs are properly understood and met.
  • Evaluate training needs and ensure staff training is planned and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Participate in setting up SOP standards and compliance.


Ideal Candidate Profile:
Education:

  • University degree level of education in Science, Engineering, IT, or Higher Diploma with 7 years of production experience.

Experience:

  • 2 years of production experience in food or consumer products.

Technical Skills:

  • Experienced with Schedule Planning and resource allocation principles.
  • Experienced with GMP, ISO Standards, Safe Food Handling, HACCP practices, and HSE guidelines.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Continuous Improvement Experience/Certification is highly desirable.
  • Ability to show a track record of improving production, solving problems, and motivating supervisors and line workers.
