Job Responsibilities and Duties
Design and implement a varied monthly program of recreational, cultural, social, and therapeutic activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, in both group and individual settings;
Organise internal and external events, including excursions and off-site activities, ensuring transport logistics and accessibility needs are met;
Coordinate special events such as religious celebrations, holiday gatherings, community engagements, and themed days;
Develop specialised activity sessions for residents living with dementia, ensuring inclusivity and stimulation;
Encourage participation by actively engaging with residents, extending personal invitations, and fostering a warm, inclusive atmosphere;
Consult with residents individually and in groups to identify their preferences, cultural interests, and recreational needs;
Liaise with family members and staff to accommodate personal milestones like birthdays, anniversaries, and religious or cultural observances;
Evaluate resident engagement and feedback to continuously improve and tailor the activity program;
Monitor and manage the activity budget, ensuring cost-effective planning and resource use;
Collaborate with nursing and care teams to ensure activities align with individual care plans and support residents' overall wellbeing;
Serve as a key contact for residents and families, offering guidance, updates, and emotional support;
Maintain strong, positive relationships with residents and their families through open communication, empathy, and timely resolution of issues;
Handle concerns and complaints professionally, escalating when necessary and ensuring proper follow-up;
Protect resident confidentiality by adhering to data protection policies and handling all information with discretion;
Record attendance, engagement, and feedback accurately for tracking and evaluation purposes;
Prepare and distribute communication materials such as activity calendars, newsletters, and posters;
Coordinate with entertainers, volunteers, and external service providers to enhance the activity program;
Submit timely and accurate reports to the General Manager and relevant stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Experience
Experience in event planning, activity coordination, customer service, or similar roles will be considered an advantage;
Familiarity with elderly care and dementia-friendly practices is beneficial;
Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Maltese is required;
Confident using basic IT tools and software for scheduling, communication, and reporting.
Personal Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, paired with a compassionate, resident-focused mindset;
Creative, enthusiastic, and well-organised, with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks;
Comfortable working independently while also collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
