IDPC in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Communications Officer to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job Role:
The Communications Officer will work within IDPC’s administration team, and he/she will report directly to the Information and Data Protection Commissioner.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing, implementing and leading a communications strategy for the IDPC
  • Creating, editing, and distributing content, including without limitations publications, press releases, website and social media posts, annual reports, audio-visual productions and any other material that communicates the IDPC’s activities
  • Responding to media inquiries, arranging interviews and meetings, and acting as a spokesperson for the IDPC as required
  • Creating and distributing awareness material on the laws regulated by the IDPC to key external stakeholders
  • Managing the IDPC’s official website and official social media channels
  • Organising events, campaigns and any other initiative as required to effectively implement the IDPC’s communications strategy
  • Working closely with the legal and technical team to monitor developments in the sectors of law regulated by the IDPC
  • Researching, fact-checking and reporting on actions taken by the courts and by other authorities in the sectors of law regulated by the IDPC
  • Discharging such other responsibilities as may, from time to time, be assigned by the Commissioner.

Requirements:
  • Have a thorough knowledge, both written and spoken (at least C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), of the Maltese and of the English language
  • Have a minimum of one (2) year of professional experience as a Communications Officer, or in a similar role
  • Be computer-literate and at ease working with e-mails and office automation tools.


Preference will be given to eligible candidates who:

  • Possess a level 6 Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF) degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media, Journalism or in any related field pursued in Malta, or alternatively an equivalent academic qualification gained abroad and recognised as equivalent in Malta by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC)
  • Have previous experience working in the legal and/or information and communications technology industry
  • Have demonstrable basic knowledge and understanding of European data protection law, data protection international instruments and of other legal instruments regulated by the IDPC.
