Steel Fixer (Rebar Factory)

Position Summary:

The Steel Fixer is responsible for cutting, bending, assembling, and fixing steel reinforcement bars (rebar) and mesh used in concrete construction. Working in a factory setting, the Steel Fixer prepares pre-fabricated rebar cages and assemblies for delivery to construction sites.

Responsibilities:

• Operate machines to cut and bend rebar to specified sizes and shapes.
• Assembly and Fixing:
• Assemble rebar components into cages and other structures using tying wire or mechanical couplers.
• Ensure proper alignment, spacing, and placement according to blueprints and quality standards.
• Quality Control:
• Inspect completed rebar assemblies for accuracy and structural integrity.
• Report any defects or inconsistencies to supervisors.
• Adhere to all factory safety protocols and procedures.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
• Keep the work area clean and organised.
• Skills and Qualifications:
• Previous experience as a steel fixer, rebar assembler, or related role (preferably in a factory setting).
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and bar bending schedules.
• Familiarity with rebar tying tools, cutters, and bending machines.
• Physical stamina and the ability to handle heavy materials.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
