Head of Commercial Underwriting and Reinsurance

Job Description
Elmo Insurance Ltd in Malta is looking to recruit a full-time Head of Commercial Underwriting and Reinsurance to lead and oversee the operations of the Commercial Underwriting department. The Head of Commercial Underwriting and Reinsurance will report to the Commercial Underwriting General Manager.

The successful candidate and support with:

• Reviewing and approving commercial underwriting decisions of staff and ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements and Company, business, and strategic objectives;
• Managing relations with various international reinsurers;
• Reviewing underwriting guidelines and providing input on new guidelines as the Commercial Underwriting department grows;
• Developing and maintaining strong business relationships with all distribution channels; and
• Risk surveys management and review.

We are looking for an individual with:

• Experience in underwriting large and complex insurance risks, particularly CARs;
• An understanding of local insurance regulations;
• The ability to build collaborative relationships both with colleagues, reinsurers, and clients.
