Our client is a leading group of companies with International outreach.  As they are growing, they would like to engage a General Manager & Registered Broker

The Role

  • Support in defining, proposing, implementing and servicing the global insurance strategy of the Business as it applies to the purchase of insurance coverage, the appointment of Insurance Brokers, Claim Administrators and other services to support the insurance programs
  • Lead and direct the activities of the Business insurance support team
  • Be responsible for the placement of insurance programs
  • Build a relationship to acquire and support the insurance programs of associated companies of the Business
  • Give strategic advice and report results and findings to chairman and board members
  • Maintain the insurance programs, process claims, and provide advice and guidance to the Business
  • Provide advice and guidance as necessary both from a technical and professional perspective
  • Be responsible for the claims process globally and drive improvements to the process
  • Actively manage large complex claims
  • Provide claims advice and guidance to the Businesses globally
  • Direct and guide the Business in insurance and related risk management matters.
  • Continually review the company risk profile to ensure the insurance programs are fit for purpose
  • Define and deploy insurance related risk mitigation processes
  • Assist and support risk mitigation processes across the Business e.g. Property Loss Control, Contract Reviews and Insurable Risk Reviews
  • Maintain and develop service provider relationships
  • Manage the global external relationships with service providers including Brokers, Insurers, Claim Handlers and Loss Adjusters
  • Actively manage the interface with service providers globally ensuring quality and delivery of service
  • Create and report on business plans, monitoring its efficacy and progress
  • Keep all relevant stakeholders informed of developments in-line with the Business objectives
  • Manage resources, including the attracting, hiring and retention of personnel
  • Ensure team members move in the same strategic direction to achieve its mission
  • Maintain close relationships and open communication lines with  all stakeholders including the chairman and board members, staff, clients, key-decision makers and external service suppliers
  • Manage and report on the effective implementation of a marketing strategy to maintain market relevance
  • Manage key personnel, clients and service providers
  • Promote the wellness of staff and implementing policies in-line with employment legislation and health and safety guidelines to create a diverse and positive working environment
  • Continuous monitoring of the annual budget and ensure that revenue/sales targets are met
  • Preparation of annual reports and attending and presenting at board meetings
  • The implementation, monitoring and reviewing the requirements under Insurance Distribution Directive
  • Legal & Regulatory considerations
  • Service provision, products and disclosures
  • Ensure ethical and professional conduct
  • Assessment of client demands & needs
  • Ensure continuous training in line with CPD requirements
  • Be responsible for the fiduciary requirements of clients' money
  • Support the Compliance Function
  • Train the Team on insurance and compliance related matters.
  • Review and monitor the insurance distribution of the products
  • Ensure adequate systems of controls.
  • Carry out the responsibilities with diligence and care in the interest of the customers
  • Ensure open dialogue with the MFSA and other regulators (if applicable).
Skill-sets and Requirements
  • Have at least 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Have experience in technical insurance
  • Be analytical
  • Be a good communicator
Education & Experience
  • Preferably have the ACII qualification
