Elba Restaurant in Malta is currently looking to recruit a full-time experienced Sous Chef to join their team on a full-time basis. 

Job Role:
Looking for someone who is reliable and can work alongside the Executive Sous Chef to manage daily kitchen activities by overseeing team performance, food consistency, and quality, monitoring stock levels, making requests for orders, and helping with menu planning.  

Responsibilities:
  • Leading the kitchen team in the absence of the Executive Chef’s absence
  • Ensuring a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifying all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
  • Supervising all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards are met
  • Managing food and product ordering amounts by keeping detailed records
  • Working with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns
  • Coordinating with the restaurant management team on supply orders, budget, kitchen efficiency and staffing
  • Guiding junior kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation, and plating
  • Training new kitchen employees to restaurant and kitchen standards
  • Working with the Executive Sous Chef and/or Head Chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff schedules, and training opportunities
  • Adhere to and implement health and safety regulations, along with appropriate sanitization at all times.

Set within an 18th-century restored building, Elba is a restaurant in Bahar ic-Caghaq that encompasses true Mediterranean cuisine. The menu features a variety of small tasting dishes, platters, grills, pasta, and possibly one of the best pizzas on the island.
