Head Chef

Elba is currently seeking to recruit a Head Chef to join the team. The ideal candidate is expected to have a positive and encouraging contribution toward operational and strategic decision-making in the kitchen.

Main duties:

• Managing all of the kitchen staff in an efficient manner
• Taking a degree of responsibility for their performance and the creative work input
• Development of all menus and food presentation
• To liaise administration work and running of the restaurant (including rosters, orders, events, and any special occasions) with the Operations Manager
• Ensure communication is met at the kitchen and restaurant level, including management policies and procedures
• Ensure Health & Food Safety standards are followed accordingly, including Kitchen Hygiene
• To actively seek customer feedback and exceed expectations
• To be flexible and conduct any other task that may be added to those stated in the job description, that is related to the benefit of the business or as agreed by management
• Ensure all goods are received by spot-checking deliveries and storage of all food items
• Keeping track of high-cost food stock items and that they are maintained at minimum levels
• Ensure the minimum amount of food wastage and seek opportunities for daily specials, promotions, etc.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years experience in a Head Chef role and a qualification from ITS or similar would be considered an asset. 

Elba Restaurant:
Set within an 18th-century restored building, Elba is a restaurant in Bahar ic-Caghaq that encompasses true Mediterranean cuisine. The menu features a variety of small-tasting dishes, platters, grills, pasta, and possibly one of the best pizzas on the island.
