Pointcook Catering; the operators of 2 restaurants in the South of Malta; El Catalan and Zeffie’s Bistro & Pizzeria, are currently looking to employ Chefs to join their team on both full-time and part-time basis. Reporting to the Head Chef, the selected candidates will be responsible for all aspects of food preparation, from planning to serving.
The main duties will include but are not limited to:
Suggesting new food menu ideas to the head chef.
Enforcing safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
Preparing food as per outlet preparation standards whilst ensuring that all food is of excellent quality and served in a timely manner
Oversee and monitor kitchen porters and assure they are performing their duties diligently
Taking stock of ingredients and equipment, placing orders for replenishment, and ensuring wastage is kept to a minimum
Make sure all areas of the kitchen are being kept clean and organised at all times
Taking good care of equipment and reporting any issues with equipment to the head chef
Reporting any suspicions of theft of products or equipment or unnecessary wastage.
Qualifying candidates should:
Have a relevant qualification in food preparation or culinary arts or equivalent.
Have a minimum of 2 years of working experience in a similar role.
Be fluent in English, possibly even Maltese
Are quality-driven and health and safety conscious
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Has the ability to work under pressure and handle several concurrent tasks.
Have the commitment to work on holidays, weekends, and special events.
Applicants need to be currently living in Malta, hold clean police conduct and non-EU nationals should hold a valid work permit to work in Malta. A good salary and fair working conditions will be offered to the successful candidates.
