Barista

Job Description
Michele's Cafe in Malta is looking to recruit a Barista to join their team on a full-time basis.

Job Role:
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving various types of coffee and tea beverages, such as lattes, cappuccinos, and espressos, to customers. In addition to making drinks, you are responsible for operating and maintaining coffee equipment, maintaining the cleanliness of the work area, and handling cash and credit card transactions. Other duties also include the organization of staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours, as well as placing orders for supplies, such as coffee beans, milk, and other ingredients.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve coffee and tea beverages to customers, following established recipes and standards.
• Operate and maintain coffee equipment, such as espresso machines and grinders, ensuring they are clean and functioning properly.
• Take and fulfill customer orders accurately and efficiently, handling cash and credit card transactions as needed.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area, including counters, equipment, and customer seating areas.
• Manage inventory and place orders for supplies, such as coffee beans, milk, and other ingredients.
• Organize staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and manage breaks for employees.
• Provide excellent customer service, answering questions about menu items and making recommendations when asked.
• Work as part of a team to ensure a smooth and efficient operation, communicating with other staff members and the manager as needed.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience in a coffee shop or café environment.
• Knowledge of coffee and tea beverages, including different brewing methods, latte art, and flavor profiles.
• Ability to operate and maintain coffee equipment, such as espresso machines and grinders, and troubleshoot basic issues.
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage inventory and place orders for supplies.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to take and fulfill orders accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness, maintaining a clean and tidy work area.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
