Physiotherapist

Inspire Foundation in Malta is looking to recruit a Physiotherapist to join their team on a full-time basis.

General Scope and Purpose of Position:
To provide initial screening of clients within a multi-disciplinary context, specialist assessment and interventions utilising Physiotherapy strategies for clients referred for physiotherapy. To monitor & train staff within their profession as well as support in the coordination of any physiotherapy related services including the delegation of workload. To develop further interventions based on clinical evidence.  

The Physiotherapist (PT) forms part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) that provides therapeutic & educational services for clients registered to Inspire. The service has been set up to: 

• Undertake comprehensive assessments & provide an appropriate therapeutic care package for each client; 
• Provide appropriate physical, psychological & social rehabilitation through individual & group therapy sessions; 
• Work in partnership with clients, carers & voluntary organisations to develop a resource of information, advice & self-management techniques; 
• Facilitate continuity of care following discharge from the service by referral & liaison with other support agencies.  

Clinical Duties: 

• To be responsible for the planning & delivery of PT within the programme/service; 
• To attend client screening sessions & identify those clients that would benefit from PT input; 
• To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs using specialist PT skills. This should include: evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan implement & evaluate interventions; 
• To plan & implement client centred individual & group interventions using clinical reasoning & a wide range of interventions to achieve therapeutic goals; 
• To monitor, evaluate & modify treatment for clients with multiple needs to measure progress & ensure the effectiveness of the intervention; 
• To undertake therapeutic moving & handling of clients & equipment, within clinical & non-clinical settings; 
• To work with clients, carers & relatives who may have distressing social circumstances; 
• To provide supervision of Physiotherapy students on practice placement. 
• The chosen candidate will also train the staff and students, assist in research and audit projects, and ensure that sessions provided to clients are relevant.

*Prior to being recruited and throughout the duration of employment, the selected candidates need to satisfy the requirements of the Protection of Minors Act (POMA) together with those of immunisation and CPCM registration.
