MET Office Manager

Malta International Airport plc is looking for an experienced and dynamic individual who is passionate about working with people within an Airport environment, is willing to continuously learn, develop, and be part of a high-performance culture. This vacancy has arisen within the MET Office Department.

Purpose of Position:

To lead and manage the Met Office team and proficiently ensure meteorological services are delivered to the highest of standards and in accordance to domestic/international regulations. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead and manage a team of forecasters, observers, and technical staff.
• Oversee the production and dissemination of weather forecasts, warnings, and advisories.
• Ensure compliance with national and international meteorological standards.
• Coordinate with government agencies, emergency services, and aviation/marine authorities.
• Manage office resources, budgets, and operational planning.
• Implement quality control procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supervise data collection, analysis, and archiving of meteorological observations.
• Represent the office in inter-agency meetings, conferences, and public briefings.
• Support research and development of forecasting tools and methodologies.
• Ensure staff training and professional development.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should:

• Hold a university degree, preferably in Geophysical Sciences or a related field.
• Possess a minimum of two years of supervisory or managerial experience.
• Demonstrate a proven ability to foster a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
• Excellent communication, training, and leadership abilities.
