About Securities and Markets Supervision:

Securities and Markets Supervision is responsible for the authorisation and supervision of investment services license holders, trading venues, central securities depositaries, recognised private collective investment schemes, etc. The function is also responsible for the regulation and oversight of activities in capital markets including the processing of applications for admissibility to listing on Regulated Markets and the prevention of financial market abuse. The Funds Team, within the Securities and Markets Supervision function, is responsible for the supervision of Fund Managers, Collective Investment Schemes, Recognised Persons, and Custodians. The oversight of these entities is executed by means of a combination of onsite and offsite supervision. The Funds team is also responsible for enhanced supervision and policy-related work.

The Role:
The selected candidate will:
  • Handle a portfolio of supervised entities and act as a point of liaison for this entities;
  • Assist in the basic day-to-day communications with supervised entities and take part in physical or remote onsite inspections;
  • Be involved in reviewing and analysis of financial documentation submitted by fund managers, collective investment schemes and recognised persons licensed or authorised under the Investment Services Act, as well as issuing monthly statistics on submissions;
  • Assist in the maintenance of databases, dashboards, and management information;
  • Provide support to the Funds Team in relation to research topics, particularly those relating to UCITS and AIFMD;
  • Undertake such other tasks as may be delegated by line management.


About You:
We are looking for candidates with a solid academic background in banking and finance, accountancy, economics, or another relevant field of study. The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level. If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least five (5) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.

The ideal applicant should demonstrate the following skills/experience:

  • Self-driven and able to meet deadlines;
  • Interest in financial services;
  • Attention to detail and strive for quality and accuracy of reports raised;
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities as may be necessary;
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with other team players and with the industry in general;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
