Our client is seeking a Custody Team Leader to lead the custody team, oversee client asset administration, manage regulatory reporting and corporate actions, and drive operational excellence within the department.
Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the day-to-day work of a small team of custody professionals.
Review and approve client transactions, investment reports, trade confirmations, and client communications before distribution.
Oversee corporate actions affecting client portfolios and ensure accurate processing and client communication.
Monitor the safekeeping of client assets and cash, including timely review of reconciliations and asset records.
Prepare regulatory, tax, and management reports, ensuring compliance with all reporting deadlines.
Maintain compliance with local and international regulatory frameworks, including MFSA, CBM, MTCA, FATCA, CRS, and US QI requirements.
Build and manage relationships with external custodians and service providers.
Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, controls, and efficiencies across the department.
Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on internal procedures and client reporting.
Prepare clear and concise client updates to explain relevant market, regulatory, or corporate action developments.
Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and the Board.
Requirements
Good understanding of financial markets, corporate actions, and regulatory reporting requirements, with a proactive approach to continuous learning
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, including advanced functions such as mail merge and pivot tables.
Highly professional, organised, and detail-oriented, with strong integrity, accountability, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team while meeting deadlines.
Fluency in English is essential; Maltese language skills will be considered a strong asset.
Education and Experience
Relevant qualification in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Custody, or Investment Operations.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory role within custody, fund administration, financial services operations, or audit.
